Baseball: Pee Wee pitching and catching clinic

Dates : Thursdays from Feb 16th until April 27th not including Thursday March 30th             (spring break) 10 sessions

Location: Warren elementary school gymnasium.

Time: 7:15-8:45

Cost : $120

We only have the one session a week as of right now for this age group unfortunately so we will be capping our numbers at 14.

This camp is ran with an emphasis on skill development at a AAA level.  In the gymnasium setting it obviously can be dangerous with baseballs bouncing everywhere.

If your son/daughter is having problems with certain skills that we believe puts him/her in danger or endangers another participant we will refund your money.

I realize as well that some kids are not interested in catching. I sympathize with this believe me.
To make this clinic work we split the group into two and do work both catching and pitching, then switch, so everyone gets to do both and everyone gets to throw to a catcher.
Catching skills like footwork and ball reception are skills that translate across the diamond everywhere so these are skills we believe will help all young ball players improve regardless of desired position.

Our instructors will be Blaine Fortin, Adam Luellman, Eric Swanson and myself, Ryan Fines.

Spots for the clinic will be awarded on a first come first served basis. Your spot will be secured once a cheque is received. You can make cheques out to “Interlake AAA baseball clinics”.

Cheques can be mailed to : Box 96 Stonewall MB R0C 2Z0 or dropped off at 27 Rossmere Crescent in Stonewall.

Bantam AAA Try-out

The first tryout for the Interlake Bantam AAA baseball team will be held Tuesday April 26th from 5:30-7:30 in the Stonewall Curling Rink. If it’s really nice outside we may switch it to the stonewall high school diamonds. Check your email Tuesday to know for sure where we will be.

Depending on attendance there will be a second and possibly a third evaluation. Dates and times for this are still being worked on.

Cost for tryout is $20/player. Please bring cash to tryout.

Total commitment is required for a program like this. Last year this program folded and we will do everything we can to make sure this does not happen again.

At the earliest our season will stretch into early August and will consist of approximately 2 practices per week plus one tournament, a qualifier weekend and a provincial championship weekend. There will also be some exhibition games on other weekends and weekdays.

If this sounds like something your son/daughter is interested in please respond to  with their interest, birth year, and town they are registered for A ball in.

Rally Cap and My First Pitch Clinic – Arborg & Stonewall

IMB will be having a Rally Cap Workshop and a My First Pitch Clinic at the Arborg Rec Centre on Sunday May 1st. The Rally Cap clinic will begin at 9:00am and will go until around 12:00pm. The My First Pitch Clinic will begin at 12:30pm. The My First Pitch clinic should take no more than 2 hours. Baseball Mb recommends that you take the Rally Cap online clinic before the Rally Cap Workshop but it is not mandatory this year. It will, however, be mandatory next year. If you want to take the Online clinic you have to call into Baseball Mb and have a profile set up and this will cost you $37.50. The Workshop in Arborg is $25. If paying by cheque please make out cheques to Baseball Mb. Coaches can email myself to register for the Workshop or you, as delegates, can send me a list of people that you know will be attending. There is no charge for the My First Pitch clinic that 1 Mosquito coach per roster needs to have this year. Next year all Mosquito coaches need to have it.

There is also a My First Pitch Clinic in Stonewall on May 6th. This clinic will begin at 8:30pm and is at the Stonewall Collegiate.  More info here

2016 Baseball Coaching Requirements

Please see the attached coaching requirements for all levels of coaches from Rally Cap to Midget.  Please make sure that this goes out to all your baseball coaches at every level.  There are courses being offered in the Interlake for all the levels and if you can not make those go to the Baseball Manitoba website and there are a list of different locations and dates you can attend.  They only run courses till the end of May so you will not be able to get courses in June so please get your courses in as soon as you possibly can.

There will be NO EXCEPTIONS, by Baseball MB, to the rule that if you do not have certified coaches they will be removed from the roster and the team will be removed from regional and or provincial play.  As was discussed at the AGM, it is up to the individual organizations first to please insure that your coaches are certified.  The only way Interlake Minor Ball can check coaching certification is through Baseball MB and they may not check certifications till after Regional play is complete.
